It has been a crazy month for the Belvedere. We have hosted 5 fabulous December weddings as well as 11 festive holiday parties on the 13th Floor and in our ballrooms, throw in a Netflix production crew filming, and we have officially blinked and it’s Christmas time.
Being so busy, it is easy to get lost in the hustle and bustle. So even though it is last minute, here are our Top 10 ways to get in the Christmas spirit this year. #nogrinchesallowed
10. Dress for the Occasion
The holidays are an excuse to wear whatever you want. You can go all out, without any judgements. (Psst check out our past post for a full guide)
Of course, festive shenanigans are not complete without an ugly Christmas sweater. Have a party with your friends or just wear one for fun. I guarantee you will be feelin’ yourself like Buddy the Elf.
Shopping at Christmas may be a stressful experience, but for me personally, I truly love it. It is the most guilt free of spending sprees because, unlike my usual selfish mall excursions, it is all in the name of generosity. Go to the bright and cheery department stores, grab yourself some Sbux and enjoy!
Christmas calories (or the weeks before, during and after) DO NOT COUNT. It’s a fact. Baking is as much a Christmas tradition as stockings and carols. Fill your home with Christmas spirit — and sweet-smelling desserts — with your favorite cookie recipes. Besides, you KNOW you have been pinning all year for this.
Here are our favorites:
Cranberry Orange Shortbread Cookies
Peanut Butter Chocolate Cookies with Ganache Filling
You should have your Christmas tree by now, but if not, what are you waiting for!? Put a wreath on your door so it is the first and last thing you see in your home. Searching for that perfect holiday scent to match the décor? I tried this last week and it was PERFECT.
Oh, the holidays—that wonderful time of year when it’s socially acceptable for whiskey to be in almost everything. Take advantage of the chilly weather and cozy up in your favorite sweater and a warm mug of spiked anything. From warming up your insides to embracing the seasonal flavors and spices, a winter drink completes any festive agenda. Must haves: Hot cocoa and Egg Nog, or…both.
We all have something different…go ice skating, see a show, go see a magnificent light display. Whatever “your thing” is, make time to do it. Make the season merry and bright by having FUN. The office’s local favs were the Lights on 34th Street and seeing Manheim Steamroller at the Lyric Opera House.
We all have those favorite holiday feel-good movie favorites. No matter how cheesy (cough, Love Actually, cough) they are, we watch them every year. One of the easiest ways to get in the Christmas spirit is to turn on a classic holiday movie. Have a holly, jolly movie night with a favorite like Elf (my current choice, as you can tell by a meme or two) or It’s a Wonderful Life. ABC Family’s 25 Days of Christmas is a perfect choice, but here is the low down for Netflix’s options.
I am not trying to brag, but…parties are our thing. That is what we do and from our experience, holiday parties are the PERFECT ticket to see your co workers out of the office or gather with family and friends. We especially love borrowing ideas (decor, themes, etc.) from our clients when the tables turn and we host our own personal holiday parties. This is a perfect opportunity to play fun games, share stories around the fireplace, or have a fun potluck.
“The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.” In our office, after a long day we have been putting on Mariah Carey Pandora to power through the rest of the afternoon. The songs repeat and you have heard them about a thousands times, but embrace it. You know you know all the words, so belt them in your car. Mix and mingle to the jingling beat.
1. Year after year, spending the “most wonderful time of the year” with your closest loved ones.
Yes. The true meaning of Christmas. There is nothing better.
From our family to yours, please have a safe and magical holiday!
