Forego your traditional bridal shower plans for a fun co-ed affair! A shower needs no theme other than to have a good time and celebrate the upcoming marriage of a couple. But a theme can be a fun way to personalize and help you plan your couple’s shower!

12 Creative Couple’s Shower Themes

1. Patio party. This is a great theme for the laid back couple. Pull out the corn-hole boards, fire up the grill and call it a “shower”. This party can practically plan itself; you can even have guests bring a dish in lieu of gifts!

2. A Garden Party (that you actually want to go to…): Sticking with the outdoor theme here. You know you have that one set of friends that is always making trips to the Home Depot to make their backyard look like it belongs in a magazine. Gift the couple pretty planters, wind chimes, a bird bath, etc. You could do an activity for those who don’t have a green thumb by arranging flowers or potting their own plants.

3. “Stock the Bar” party. If your friends just bought a house, this is a perfect excuse to have a classy “boozy” themed party. Guests may bring bar ware and booze as gifts. Further, hire a bartender to come teach everyone how to make specialty drinks. If the B&G really love a concoction, they could possibly use it as their signature cocktail on the bar for their wedding!

4. Hometown Throwdown. Incorporate the couple’s home towns into the party. If one or both are from out of town, incorporate some of that nostalgia into the food and decor! Georgia Peaches, Mississippi Mud Pie, Pennsylvania Cheese steaks and more!

5. Literary Love. A book-themed shower does not have to be a snooze fest for those who haven’t seen the inside of a book since it was required from school. Integrate famous book quotes throughout and invite party-goers to contribute to the couple’s collection.

6. Culinary Celebration. Use this as a reason to tap in to those daring Pinterest recipes you have never gotten around to try. Host a cooking class or have each guest bring along a family dish with the recipe on a recipe card.

7. Leavin’ on a Jet Plane. Plan a travel-theme shower, maybe centered on the honeymoon destination like Italy or Mexico and do it big!

8. The Hands of Time. Assign each guest a specific time slot (i.e. 8 AM, 6 PM, 9 PM, etc.); they will use that time to influence their gift. For example, a guest with the 8 AM slot might bring a breakfast-themed gift basket, while a guest with the 6 PM slot might bring dishes.

9. Give Back. Take it from someone who knows; for some it’s hard to be the spotlight in which people shower them with lavish gifts. Try a philanthropy shower for those who want to give back. Have attendees donate and share to the group about the charity of their choosing or do a charity-focused activity at the couple’s shower like making tie blankets for kids or put together goodie baskets for local seniors!

10. Netflix and Chill. Planning a wedding while juggling full-time jobs is stressful! Maybe your friends want to do nothing more than chill in their PJs for an old fashioned movie night complete with popcorn and relaxation. Guests can bring gifts like DVD seasons of their favorite shows, Netflix gift certificates and movie-themed baskets!

11. Wine About It. Much like the stock-the-bar theme party, a wine shower is always a crowd-pleaser for a couple’s shower. Serving wine and cheese is a given and guests can bring bottles with wine tags that read “first anniversary” or “first dinner party”.

12. When in Doubt, Game it Out. Board games used to be the bomb, in fact, they still are. Everyone (introverts and extroverts) can get into playing a game! Pick fun party games like Apples to Apples or Cards Against Humanity to get everyone in on the fun.
